دی متیل گلیوکسیم ترکیبی جامد و بدون رنگ است که به سختی در آب خالص حل می شود ولی اغلب اوقات به عنوان یک حلال در اتانول استفاده می شود. از این ماده برای آنالیز و تشخیص پالادیوم یا نیکل در محلول اسیدی استفاده می شود.
